We put our jobs, family, and even friends' needs first. Even though our backs don’t hurt by doing them we most of the time, hurt emotionally and psychologically. It is difficult to put yourself first due to social pressure and emotional attachment.
You need to put yourself first as much as possible for your physical, emotional, and psychological well-being, and here are 5 ways you can do that.
IMPORTANCE OF PUTTING YOURSELF FIRST
Putting yourself first doesn’t necessarily mean that you come before everyone or that your needs are above everyone else. It is actually about putting your needs at the same level as everyone else. Your boundaries should be healthy enough for you to tolerate and you should make them understand that they are lines they should not cross by enforcing your boundaries and not leaving anyone out.
3. LEARN TO SAY NO TO THINGS YOU DON’T LIKE OR NOT WILLING TO DO.
Most people have a problem with not being able to say “no” to any request. You have to learn to decline anything you are not ready to take on or you don’t like. If there are events or tasks in your life that don’t make you happy or doesn’t fill right, say no and put yourself first.
Saying no will help put your happiness first and help you understand your needs better. It also helps you set better and healthier boundaries for the people around you.
4. TAKE CARE OF OUR PHYSICAL HEALTH BY EATING WELL AND EXERCISING.
When you put yourself first physically, it will have a positive effect on your mental health and vice versa.
You must eat properly and exercise as much as you can. It helps put you in a good mood and make you ready for the day.
If you don’t take of yourself physically, it will be extremely difficult for you to put your mental and emotional well-being first.
